Professional Curiosity
Professional curiosity is something that is highlighted frequently in local and national learning reviews as something that could have been better.
Professional curiosity is all about professionals having the awareness, capacity and communication skills to be really explore what is happening with an individual or family.
- It's about asking lots of questions and sometimes these may be difficult questions
- It's about understanding how a family is made up, including blended families and families of choice
- It is about understanding what support a family or individual receives
- It can include looking for evidence to confirm or contradict what you are being told
- It's also about being aware of your own social constructs / prejudices / unconscious bias and being open to learning about the individual or family and what support they think they need
