Connect 5 training aims to enable people to feel more confident and skilled to work together with individuals to help them improve their mental wellbeing. The training is based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). It can help people to recognise and change some of the unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaviour that are causing their difficulties, so they can improve the way they feel.

Description

Connect 5 training is a course made up of three modules. It gives people the skills and confidence to have conversations that empower individuals to take action to improve their mental health and wellbeing. It gives an introduction to the Five Ways to Wellbeing and the Five Areas model, (on which the three Connect 5 training sessions are based), different public health models of mental health, mental illness and mental wellbeing along with starting conversations about mental wellbeing and the key skills needed. The programme uses the principles of Making Every Contact Count.

  • I have the key skills to initiate conversations about mental wellbeing
  • I understand the local services available and self-help resources
  • I am more confident about offering wellbeing advice and support within my everyday work or volunteering role
  • I am able to work collaboratively with individuals to help them improve their own mental wellbeing
  • I can help individuals make lasting changes that have a positive effect on their mental wellbeing

Who this is for

  • This training is useful for all front line workers and volunteers who support people living or working in Salford. It is free if you carry out these roles.
