Outline

The course provides practical guidance on getting mental health conversations started, tackles the stigma that surrounds mental health and provides an overview of mental health conditions, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments.

Description

This training course teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. It will give you the skills and confidence to listen, reassure and respond. The Adult MHFA one day course qualifies you as a Mental Health Champion.

Outcomes

  • I have an understanding of common mental health issues
  • I have an understanding of the signs and symptoms of mental ill health
  • I have an understanding of relevant approaches to help support someone who presents with mental distress
  • I have the skills to support positive wellbeing

Audience

The training is available city-wide for people who want a greater understanding of how to support adults with presenting mental health needs. This is available free for all sectors in Salford.

Charging policy

Public Health have introduced a charging policy for non-attendance. Agencies will be charged for staff who fail to attend courses if we are not informed of a cancellation at least 14 days before the session so we have sufficient time to fill all places and no financial loss to Salford City Council. The charge for non-attendance or late arrival will be £50. (Please note the cost of this course is £200 per person).
